Ah yes, we’ve been a away for a little while, but we’re well and truly back with some more killer releases to unleash upon the breaks world and beyond!
Next up, it’s Platinum Mules, with a summery, laid back groover in the form of Fresh Start.
It’s a bouncy, warm, almost funky number that’s perfect for the early doors crew. It’s a perfect summer record, and with the weather on the change in the right direction this one is sure make an appearance at festivals and barbecues across the land.
We’ve pulled in two awesome peak time remixes to give a bit of variation on the package. First up, keeping things Re:Connect, is a joint effort from the boss man High Eight, teaming up with Boomslang resident and Re:Connect newbie That Girl DJ, for a “house-meets-breaks” slammer, perfect for more peak time sets. It’s a fusion of styles that work together perfectly, so expect more collaborations from these two!
Finally, we’ve drafted in the remix talents of Mesmer, all the way from Bucharest. His previous releases on Sound Of Habib, Bombtraxx and Sango Music always impressed us at Re:Connect, and we’ve been waiting for the perfect track for him to work his magic on. Mesmer’s remix takes the best hooky parts of the original and takes them well into Truskool progressive breaks territory, touching on dubstep influences in places, but all the while directed firmly towards the dancefloor.
A few months ago disaster struck at Re:Connect HQ. My trusty hard drive died, and without a decent backup in place we pretty much lost everything.
We’re taking the opportunity to revamp the Re:Connect Records promo mailing list completely. If you used to be on the list and want to remain on there, or if you would like to be added to the list please send an email to info@reconnectrecords.com. If you’re a new addition type, please include some good reasons as to why we should consider adding you.
We’ve got some great new releases coming up, including two brand new Re:Connect Re:Works packages, plus new singles from the likes of Platinum Mules, Rhythm Mechanic, That Girl DJ, Leuce Rhythms, Pip-Bwoy 3000, myself, and Karl Sav & Nikita, to name just a few. It’s going to be a busy 2009!
Come and check out the brand new breakbeat website www.thisisbreaks.com which launched this week. It’s ALL about the breakbeats and is aimed to bring the latest news, reviews, discussions, and free downloads to breaksheads across the globe.
And while you’re there, come and join the Re:Connect Records group!
ID’s ‘Mission’ is finally out in stores on lovely vinyl! Digital release is forthcoming, so keep an eye out for linkage on that.
ID is probably best known for his work with Baobinga and their Big Monster project on Fat! Records. The debut album caused a huge stir back at the beginning of the year, and their remixes of Rico Tubbs’ ‘Knuckle Sandwich’ on Menu, and more recently their huge remix of Stanton Warriors ‘Blaze’ on Punks have well and truly set them up as names to watch. We’re very proud to have one of ID’s first solo works on the label, and it’s an absolute monster of a tune!
As well as the Zinc-styled original, ID’s also furnished us with his own ‘House Mix’, which keeps things fairly breaky, with a solid 4/4 kick and a huge bassline which twists and turns as the tune flows on.
Rounding off the package is an acid-flavoured breaks remix from label boss High Eight. On this one the original bassline is filtered and chopped up providing a driving midrange synth line, and laid over a new bubbly bouncing bassline and crisp beats. High Eight keeps an old skool flavour with a classic break thrown in and a rising 303 line for good measure.
We’re very excited to bring you a brand new and exclusive mix from the one and only That Girl DJ!
That Girl DJ came to our attention as a DJ first, with her blend of breaks and dirty wonky house, at nights such as her residency at Boomslang in Cambridge, and of course her regular radio show on NSB Radio. When she brought this style over to her first tune ‘Mi Casa Su Casa‘, we knew we had to have it on the label. Her follow-up single ‘Wonk’ is nearing completion and having had a sneaky first listen we know it’s going to be another awesome release!
The lady herself has been good enough to do an exclusive mix for the website - an all-out peak time selection of dancefloor bangers covering fat bassline driven house, to breakbeat and wonky party beats.

This one’s just been promo’d, and has been getting some fantastic feedback and reviews so far. It’ll be in stores around early December.
The next Re:Connect Show on NSB Radio will be on Wednesday 1st October, and it’s another tribute show. This time we’ll be paying tribute to our big brother label, the often overlooked En:Vision Recordings, and if that’s not enough I’ll have the one and only Future Funk Squad with me live in the studio for a guest mix and a chat.
I’ll be playing a handful of my favourite back catalogue tunes, whilst leaving the man himself to give us a taster of things to come. Expect a shed load of awesome exclusives, plus some inane banter!

Up next is a stomping, rolling breakbeat monster in the form of ID’s ‘Mission‘. We first heard this a while back and knew it had to be part of our catalogue.
ID’s also furnished us with his own ‘House Mix’, and the package will be rounded off with a further mix from label boss High Eight. While we’re waiting for that one to be finished off, you can check out audio clips of the other two below!
