Next release…..the return of REFUNK!

May 14th, 2008

Jay “Refunk” Stewart is BACK! Next up on Re:Connect will be Jay’s fourth single for us, and definitely not his last.

Since Refunk’s first single on Re:Connect he has gone from strength to strength, not only with bigger and better singles for the label, but under his Jay Stewart guise on Menu Music and most recently Breakin’ Even. How this guy went un-noticed at this year’s Breakspoll awards we’ll never know!

Here are some sneak preview audio clips of the next single “Mr Mole” which also features remixes from Rektchordz and Rebel Sketchy.

Re:Connect Re:Works

May 6th, 2008

Re:Connect Re:Works is a new series of digital only releases featuring remixes of back catalogue tracks from a selection of our favourite producers.

Re:Works 001

First up is a double helping of Liz Melody, featuring one of her own singles, and her collaboration with label boss High Eight.

Forget U was only out in it’s original form mid 2007, but this stunning remix from Nuboy (whose previous work includes releases on the Stanton Warriors’ Beats label, and Future Funk Squad’s En:Vision Recordings). He takes the original vocal, chops the hell out of it, and adds driving tech-funk beats, soaring synths and an acid line that’ll make you drool.

Also included here is an awesome electro-house take on Liz’s collaboration with High Eight, from back in 2006. “Rock My World” is ripped apart and reassembled here by Bobby Lorenz & Kristoph (of D. Ramirez’s label Slave Recordings). Adding their trademark 4×4 beats, bubbling bassline and just the right amount of vocal, this one is 100% tried and tested on the dancefloors and is sure to rock the crowd. For those not happy with the small amount of cut up vox in this one, there’s also a handy instrumental.

You can get this release RIGHT NOW, exclusively from Beatport, and it’ll be available from all other digital stores on 2nd June!

RECON022 “Coming To” out NOW!

May 6th, 2008

We’re very excited and proud to announce that the next release is out NOW in stores!

It’s the triumphant return of label boss High Eight, his first release in 18 months, and it’s a corker!

On the A, the original “Coming To” kicks off with crisp rolling beats, a throbbing bass and dark stabs, before a bubbling dirty analogue riff creeps it’s way in driving the track along. This one has undertones of Underworld and Chemical Brothers, albeit with a fat nasty breakbeat on it! Tried and tested in the clubs, this one definitely rocks the dancefloor!

On remix duties this time comes relative newcomer, but one-to-watch Blazerflame. We were so taken with his previous work “50 Cent Bitch” and “Blazerflail” (to name but two), we had to get this guy in on a remix! Blazerflame’s remix takes the hooky parts of the original, cutting up the vocal snippets, and twisting the vibe in a way only he can. In places, this one wouldn’t sound out of place in a George A. Romero movie! Scarily good!

Support coming from the likes of Ben & Lex, Plaza De Funk, Hexadecimal, JDS, Bitrok, Def Inc, Splitloop, Dopamine, Rico Tubbs, Reid Speed, Mr No Hands, and Kickflip.
